Martour

Museum, Jewish Heritage, and the Oldest Vine

The group started the day with a 45-minute guided tour of the Maribor Regional Museum in Maribor Castle. The exhibitions provided a clear framework for understanding the city, from the everyday life of its citizens to the symbols we encounter on the streets. This was followed by a short narrative walk through the old town center to the Jewish Square, where the city revealed the silence and stories of the space that shaped Maribor's past.

We made a 20-minute stop at the Maribor Synagogue. I accompanied the group and added context about the Jewish community and the Second World War so that the exhibitions and the space really spoke to them. Then we took a short walk to the Old Vine, where the program concluded with a half-hour tasting of selected Styrian wines with local snacks at the oldest vine in the world. After the tour, I accompanied the group to the agreed pick-up point.
